An Evening with the Legendary Pianist Byron Janis

Date: October 04 2006
Time: 07:00 pm
Location: Steinway Hall in New York City

On October 4, 2006 at Steinway Hall in New York City, New York Piano Society presented "An Evening with the Legendary Pianist Byron Janis." The program, which honored Mr. Janis, featured a recently released DVD of his 1968 performance in Paris of Rachmaninoff's "Variations on a Theme of Paganini," a discussion with Mr. Janis, and performances by four members of the New York Piano Society. Consistent with New York Piano Society's mission to present pianists whose primary professions are not in music performance, the four performers on this evening represented a variety of fields: Len Horovitz, MD is an internist and lung specialist in private practice in New York; he performed Chopin's Nocturne opus 62, #1 in B Major.
